The Best Flowers & Decor to Match Your Favorite Baby Books

Where the Wild Things Are

For a Where the Wild Things Are baby shower, you’ll want a “forest that grew and grew.” Easily achieve this with lush greenery as table runners or centerpieces or even hang vines and branches to recreate a forest-like look. For a pop of color and more nature, include flowering plants like birds of paradise, orchids, peace lilies, or bromeliads. Place small succulents in the center of each table and as a party gift for attendees. Other blooms that work well with this theme include daffodils, daisies, dahlias, and bells of Ireland.

The Rainbow Fish

Wonderfully whimsical and serene, The Rainbow Fish is a book filled with beautiful, rich colors. Replicate these hues with blooms in deep hues such as red, blue, green, magenta, and purple. For silver accents, include silver sprinkles on cupcakes or cookies, have silver-colored plates and napkins, or silver vases to hold the fresh blooms.  Incorporate a few of the fish’s friends, too, like the little blue fish, starfish, and octopus. Add deep blue elements like table cloths, wrapping paper, and balloons, and top it all off with a few pieces of lush greenery for a dazzling and memorable baby shower.

Goodnight Moon

A well-known children’s classic, Goodnight Moon is full of bright primary colors and charming details you can use in your baby shower decor. First, bring in bright fresh blooms in red and yellow, such as roses, gerbera daisies, or mums, surrounded by rich greenery. Replicate these colors in other decor items such as napkins, tableware, balloons, and wrapping paper. Pick up a stuffed bunny, or paste images of a phone, lamp, stars, and moon on the walls to round out the look.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar

Lots of green and caterpillar images are on order for a baby shower based on The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Include fresh flowers of all kinds to represent all of the colorful and different things the hungry caterpillar eats in this story. The food you should include, of course, should consist of apples, pears, plums, strawberries, oranges, watermelon, and desserts like chocolate cake, ice cream cones, lollipops, and cherry pie. Create a caterpillar out of a curving line of cupcakes, and don’t forget the big green leaves that the caterpillar lays on after he has eaten too much.

If You Give a Mouse a Cookie

Soft, simple colors, like red, green, blue, orange, and yellow is a good place to start when choosing decorations based on the book, If You Give a Mouse a Cookie. While the main decor is obviously milk and cookies, there are other themes and details to incorporate, like yellow straws for the milk, a little bed with pillows and blankets, and a hand-drawn picture of the mouse’s family. Of course, this theme needs the mouse himself. Place tiny mouse stuffed animals inside floral arrangements, on presents, or tied to balloons. Most of all, add beautiful bouquets of fresh blooms in soft colors to complete the look.

Books hold a special place in our hearts, much like flowers do. Flowers offer the same comfort and warm fuzzy feelings a good book does, especially our favorite childhood books.
