4 Ways To Honor Grandparents

As summer comes to a close, and September arrives, it’s almost time to remember how truly special our grandparents are. The second Sunday after Labor Day in September is Grandparents Day. Since 1979, we’ve been honoring the love and devotion of the special people in our lives. With our professional delivery services, VanderSalm’s Flowershop & Garden Center can make sure your grandparents in a hospital room, nursing home or assisted living facility anywhere in the greater Kalamazoo area are well taken care of. And, of course, we also deliver to residences as well. The experts at VanderSalm’s Flowershop & Garden Center have created a list of four ways to honor grandparents.

Send Beautiful Flowers

What better way to show your grandparents how much they mean to you than a captivating flower bouquet, a green plant, or succulent garden? Let the grandchildren choose the perfect gift for grandmother and grandfather, and add a heartfelt card as a special touch. With its vivid yellow roses and daisies housed in a whimsical yellow smiley-face cup, the Be Happy arrangement is sure to put a smile on your grandparents faces.

A truly stunning floral arrangement is the Glorious Gladiolus. Tall Gladiola blooms tower above a lovely clear glass vase. Your grandparents will appreciate your thoughtfulness and the beauty these flowers and plants add to their home.

For grandparents with green thumbs, why not choose a Succulent Garden filled with plants that are easy to care for.

Host a Family Reunion

Grandparents Day is the perfect time to plan a family reunion. Invite aunts, uncles, cousins and other family members that you may not see very often to share in your grandparents’ special day. If the weather is clear, have an outdoor barbecue and let everyone share memories of days gone by.

Have a Sleepover

Let the grandparents spend extra time with their grandkids on Grandparents Day by having an old-fashioned sleepover. Gather blankets and pillows and encourage your grandparents to tell stories to their grandkids. When it lights out, everyone will sleep well knowing they’ve created a memory.

Volunteer at a Nursing Home

For those who can’t be with their own grandparents on Grandparents Day, volunteer at a nursing home and bring the grandkids. The residents will enjoy showering attention on the children.

Remembering how much our grandparents truly mean to us is what Grandparents Day is all about. To make the day genuinely personal, find out what grandmother’s favorite flower is. Is grandfather a gardener? Would he enjoy a green plant? Let the grandchildren select flowers or plants that will delight their grandparents. VanderSalm’sFlowershop & Garden Center can deliver flowers, plants and other gifts anywhere in the Kalamazoo area. Let us help you make this Grandparents Day one to remember.
